Orland Park Rules For Intersection Soliciting
ByDid you know there were actually rules and regulations in place in some towns for worthy causes to solicit on street
intersections? Orland Park’s rules are as follows:
Orland Park – Permits are required and the groups need to be registered with the statewide attorney general’s office, be engaged in state fundraising and those soliciting must be at least 18 and wear a high visibility vest. Orland Park also requires the organization to be liable for any injuries and regulates dates and locations for solicitation.
I’m sure many of us feel uncomfortable when we arrive at an intersection and see solicitors. Half the time you have no idea what they are supporting. I try to donate to a cause I’m familiar with but some times the solicitors look so unprofessional that I wonder if they’re keeping donations for themselves.
I worked for a franchise brokerage for 22 years and once a year we collected for Easter Seals. I was at intersections with other agents in my office and a few times I brought my kids with and stood in front of grocery stores. The kids always elicited more donations. We usually purchased candy to hand out and although we did very well, I never enjoyed it.
I’m glad to know that when you’re driving through Orland Park and see solicitors, they should be sanctioned. If something doesn’t look right you should call the village or police.
