La Grange, IL, is a place I’ve always loved since the first time I drove through it going north on La Grange Rd. (which I normally spell Lagrange Rd.). I recently sold a nice home in La Grange and noticed the inconsistency with the spelling. The LaGrange Public Library spells it without the separation. The library has also created a community page for the village and it really surprises me that they would spell it differently than other public resources.
Wikipedia and the United States Postal Service shows it as La Grange. Do a search yourself and you’ll find several local and national websites spelling it differently. In fact, doing a search for La Grange IL real estate also brings up websites using both spellings.
In fact, since I’ve seen it spelled both ways by so many different sources I have it spelled both ways on my La Grange website page. The same is true for both La Grange Park and La Grange Highlands. I’m wondering how split the residents are when they write out their own addresses.
